Your dollars help us preserve Connecticut’s most visited State Park.

Located on the shore of Long Island Sound in Madison, Connecticut, Hammonasset Beach State Park is Connecticut’s largest and most popular shoreline Park with nearly three million visitors annually. It features over two miles of beach, as well as acres of scenic wetlands and woodlands. Monetary contributions to Friends of Hammonasset (FOH) enable us preserve, protect and promote this outstanding natural resource.

Help the Friends support Hammonassett Beach State Park.

Run entirely by volunteers, Friends of Hammonasset is a “not for profit” 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, working in cooperation with State and local Park Management and the Friends of Connecticut State Parks. The purpose of our organization is to:

  • Provide environmental education.
  • Preserve the integrity of the park’s natural resources.
  • Serve as an advocate for the park.

We accomplish these goals through education, advocacy and engagement, relying solely on donations and membership fees.  Monetary donations from Friends of Hammonasset also allow Meigs Point Nature Center staff and volunteers to purchase small but essential supplies such as animal food, educational materials, and craft supplies. FOH also works with private companies and non-profit groups for donations of larger equipment.
